How It Works

Everything you need to know about Fluid Film, our application process, and what to expect from your service.

What Is Fluid Film?

Fluid Film is a lanolin-based rust preventative made from refined wool wax. Unlike rubberized coatings that dry and harden, Fluid Film stays soft and active — allowing it to creep into seams, welds, and hard-to-reach areas where rust actually starts.

It's widely used on trucks, trailers, equipment, and fleet vehicles because it protects metal from moisture, road salt, and corrosion without trapping water underneath.

⚠️
Florida vehicles rust too. Humidity, coastal salt air, frequent rain, and boat ramp use can all accelerate corrosion — even if you've never driven north of Georgia. Fluid Film is designed for these conditions and is one of the most widely used rust prevention products in North America.

How We Apply Fluid Film

  • 1
    Vehicle Inspection

We inspect the frame, suspension, and undercarriage to identify existing rust, damage, and areas that need extra attention.

  • 2
    Surface Rust Removal

Loose rust and flaking material are removed with wire brushes and scrapers to help the coating reach the metal underneath.

  • 3
    Frame & Cavity Treatment

Using specialized wands, we spray inside frame rails, crossmembers, and other hard-to-reach areas where rust often starts.

  • 4
    Full Undercarriage Application

Fluid Film is applied throughout the undercarriage, including exposed metal surfaces, seams, welds, and corrosion-prone areas.

Where We Spray

We don't just spray visible areas. Fluid Film is applied throughout the undercarriage, including inside frame rails and other hard-to-reach areas where rust commonly starts.

Floor pans & underbody
Wheel wells & arches
Suspension components

Brake components: We mask or avoid all contact surfaces on rotors and pads. Fluid Film is never applied anywhere it affects braking performance.

Visit

Most vehicles are completed in about 90 minutes. We come to your home, workplace, or job site, so there's no waiting room, no shuttle, and no drop-off required. Larger trucks may take longer.

Ready to drive immediately. There's no cure time or waiting period after application.

How Long Does Fluid Film Last?

Most vehicles maintain effective protection for 1–2 years under normal Florida driving conditions. Vehicles exposed to coastal salt air, frequent rain, boat ramps, or heavy use may benefit from more frequent applications.

No scraping off old coatings. Fluid Film can be reapplied directly over previous treatments during maintenance visits.

Maintenance Schedule

  • 1
    Heavy Exposure

Coastal vehicles, boat tow vehicles, work trucks, and daily drivers: every 12 months.

  • 2
    Typical Florida Driving

    Most vehicles: every 1–2 years.

  • 3
    Stored or Low-Mileage Vehicles

May go longer depending on condition and exposure.

We'll remind you. Customers can opt into our maintenance reminder system.
